&GAS: OPTIONS
This option is responsible for making a printout of all available
data about the gas. This enables you for instance to get a listing
of the predefined gasses like Argon-Ethane or CO2.
The output can not be used directly as input to the program, use
the WRITE instruction for that purpose.
The tables are only printed when the gas section is being left.
Use e.g. &MAIN to close the section.
[This option is off initially, its setting is remembered from one
gas section to the next.]
Switching on this option requests plots of the drift velocity,
the ion mobility, the diffusion coefficients, the Lorentz angle,
the Townsend coefficient and the attachment coefficient to be
produced.
These plots are made when the gas section is left, not when the
option is switched on. Use e.g. &MAIN to close the section.
The representations used in the graphs are the following:
- drift velocity: In the absence of a magnetic field, only the
drift velocity is shown, using polyline representation
FUNCTION-1. If the
magnetic field is not zero, then the component parallel with
E uses FUNCTION-1,
the component parallel with the orthogonal part of B uses
FUNCTION-2 while
the component parallel with ExB is shown using
FUNCTION-3.
- ion mobility: The ion mobility curve is drawn with
FUNCTION-1.
- diffusion: The longitudinal diffusion uses
FUNCTION-1 while
the transverse diffusion uses
FUNCTION-2.
- multiplication: The Townsend coefficient is drawn with
FUNCTION-1 while
the attachment coefficient is shown using
FUNCTION-2.
- cluster size: the cluster size distribution is drawn with
FUNCTION-1.
With the PLOT-OPTIONS command, you have further control
over the axes (linear or logarithmic) and the vertical scale of
these plots. This command also enables you to suppress one or more
of the plots.
Use the ATTACHMENT, DRIFT_VELOCITY,
GET_E/P_TABLE, ION_MOBILITY,
LONGITUDINAL_DIFFUSION, LORENTZ_ANGLE,
TOWNSEND, TRANSVERSE_DIFFUSION,
VELOCITY_E, VELOCITY_BTRANSVERSE and
VELOCITY_ExB procedures for fully customised plots.

gas section to the next.]
