From Here…

In this chapter, you’ve covered what components go into SGML documents and DTDs. You’ve seen a little about how they look and what they do. You’ve seen what components make up the tags for all the tags used in SGML. You’ve briefly been exposed to how the tags between documents and DTDs are different in appearance and function. Declarations appear very differently in SGML documents and in DTDs. The syntax is completely different. Finally, you’ve seen how structure diagrams can help you keep structure and content straight.

If you’re ready for more in-depth coverage of writing DTDs, jump to Part III, “Content Modeling: Developing the DTD.”
If you specifically want more detail about elements, attributes, and entities, visit Chapter 10, “Following General SGML Declaration Syntax.”
If you want more details about DTDs, see Chapter 16, “Markup Challenges and Specialized Content.”
If you’re ready for the next step in the overall process of doing SGML, see the next chapter, Chapter 4, “The Basic Procedure.”
