This chapter covered a few special challenges that you’re likely to encounter in your SGML endeavors. While it’s by no means an exhaustive list, it will help you deal with content such as tables, equations, footnotes, and bibliographies.

For more information, refer to the following:

  Chapter 9, “Extending Document Architecture,” covers ID and IDREF attributes that are helpful in linking information such as endnotes or footnotes.
  Chapter 16, “Markup Challenges and Specialized Content,” covers some of the syntax with which you’ll need to be familiar, such as NOTATION and marked sections.
